Fantastic content for recent de-converts

As an ex-evangelical de-converting from a fundamentalist view of the Bible and the world, this show helped me put some of my thoughts and feelings into words. One thing I particularly like about the podcast is the inclusion of many beliefs in their discussions. While my alt-right conservative family sees this as an afront to everything they believe, I’m able to share the podcast with my more liberal but still very Christian side of the family who agree that the Jesus of the Bible has been cooped into political weapon to push bigoted ideology. Thank you Dan and Brad for the great content, you’ve inspired my brother and I to start our own podcast.

My lifeline

I love this podcast so much- can’t hardly wait for the three times a week it comes out. Even as intense and heavy as it is. I came of age during the 80’s when all this Christian nationalism started getting popular.

Shared wisdom

This is truly an invaluable podcast. Real talk about real issues. Dan and Brad are truly knowledgeable and their sense of humor always makes some of the heavy topics lighter as are their “hope topic” endings. Intelligent and thought provoking

I have always paid attention to how religious zealots have tried to wrestle the reigns of society away from rational people. Now that they are succeeding, we need a show like Straight, White American Jesus to give us the scoop on how insidious right wing nutballery has become, and how to fight back.

I’ve listened to every episode!

I’ve listened to every episode for several years. It’s the one podcast I will always catch up on and not miss. Brad and Dan do a great job of incorporating weekly current events into their show in addition to important work of scholars, historians, writers and other experts. I have learned so much from all of the perspectives given on the show.

Matthew Taylor & NAR

While I love all the SWAJ podcasts, Dr. Taylor’s narrative about NAR is phenomenally engaging and compelling. He painted such a clear and terrifying picture of NAR that I could only listen to the series over several weeks. Too intense to absorb all at once. You’ve done a great service to the country by helping us understand another piece of the puzzle behind the cause of the 1/6 insurrection.

Great show

This is an important show with fantastic content. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to understand what is happening within the American religious right and American Christian nationalism. Highly insightful commentary from two people who lived within that sphere, saw its problems and are now working to inform. Keep it up guys!

I found this first episode I have listened to interesting, informative, thoughtful, levelheaded, and thought-provoking. My only complaint is that the last 5 or 10 minutes got cut off and then an earlier portion was repeated. Thanks for your important service to the nation!
